If the other people you know have already started going out and you haven’t, you may begin to feel that these things won’t ever happen to you. If so, it helps to remember that, sooner or later, you will find someone special. People always do! It also helps to remember that just as we have all our own special timetables of development when it comes to the physical body changes of puberty, so we all have our own timetables when it comes to romantic matters. It can be awfully hard on us if our personal timetable is moving along more slowly than other people’s. But the fact that we’re getting a slow start doesn’t mean that we won’t ever start doing these things. It may take a while, but eventually these things will happen for you. We guarantee it!
Remember, too, that you have a lot of years ahead of you. In the long run, it doesn’t really matter if you start going out when you’re only 12 years old or not until you’re 20. What’s important in the long run is that you feel good about yourself. So don’t let the fact that romance isn’t yet a part of your life get you down or make you feel bad about yourself.
